Prerequisites
- You must be logged in to the TerraGo Web Application.
- You must have access to project data.
- To search for records, at least one project and one record type must be selected in the Visibility panel.
Overview
The Map Search bar allows you to quickly locate records and locations within the TerraGo Web Application. As you type, matching results are displayed automatically and grouped into Locations and Records.
Selecting a search result automatically updates the map. If you select a record, the corresponding Asset Card opens and the matching record is highlighted in the Table View.
Searching for a Record or Location
The Map Search bar is located at the top of the map, next to the Visibility button.
To perform a search, select the Map Search bar and begin typing a record name or location. Matching results are displayed automatically as you type and continue to update as additional characters are entered. When the results appear, select either the Locations tab or the Records tab, depending on what you are searching for.
Understanding Search Results
Search results are organized into two categories: Locations and Records.
Location searches are always available. Record searches are limited to records that are currently available based on your selected projects, selected record types, and user permissions.
Locations
Location results represent addresses or geographic locations. Unlike record results, locations are not associated with a specific asset or record. Instead, they allow you to quickly navigate to a particular area of the map.
When searching for a location, select the Locations tab in the search results. The map automatically moves and zooms to the selected location, providing a quick way to navigate to an area for review instead of manually panning or zooming the map.
Records
Record results represent assets or other records available within the application. Searching for a record allows you to quickly locate a specific asset regardless of its record type, provided it is currently visible.
When searching for a record in the Map Search bar, select the Records tab in the search results and then select the desired asset. Once a record is selected:
- The map moves and zooms to the selected record.
- The corresponding Asset Card opens automatically.
- The matching row is highlighted in the Table View.
Can't Find a Record?
If you cannot find a record you expect to see, verify the following:
- The appropriate project is selected in the Visibility panel.
- The appropriate record type is selected in the Visibility panel.
- You have permission to access the record.
- If the record is still unavailable, contact your supervisor. The record may be in a status that is not available to your user account.
