Prerequisites
- You must be logged in to the TerraGo Web Application.
- You must have access to project data.
Overview
Data visibility allows you to control which asset records are displayed in the TerraGo Web Application. Depending on your organization's configuration, records may appear or be hidden based on selected projects, visible record types, user permissions, and other application settings.
Using the Visibility panel helps you focus on the records relevant to your work. Changes made in the Visibility panel affect both the Map View and Table View.
Accessing the Visibility Panel
The Visibility button is located at the top of the map, next to the Search bar.
Select the Visibility button to open the Visibility panel. The Visibility panel contains two tabs:
- Projects – Controls which projects are displayed.
- Records – Controls which record types are displayed.
Changes made in the Visibility panel are reflected in both the Map View and Table View.
Projects
The Projects tab determines which project data is displayed in the application. Projects are organized into folders and, in some systems, additional subfolders.
You can display one project, multiple projects, or entire folders at the same time. Selecting more projects loads more data into the application.
To locate and select projects:
- Scroll through the list to browse available folders and projects.
- Click the arrow next to a folder to expand it and view the projects or subfolders it contains.
- If additional subfolders exist, click the arrow next to the subfolder to continue expanding the hierarchy.
- Select the checkbox next to an individual project to display that project's records. A colored checkmark indicates the project is selected. A blank checkbox indicates the project is not selected.
- Select the checkbox next to a folder to display every project within that folder.
- Use the Project Search box at the top of the panel to quickly locate a project by name if you do not know which folder it is located in.
- Use Select All or Deselect All to quickly update your project selection.
Record Types
The Records tab determines which record types are displayed in the application. Record types are listed as a flat list rather than being organized into folders.
You can select one or more record types at a time, or choose Select All to display every available record type. Use the Search box at the top of the panel to quickly find a record type instead of scrolling through the full list.
- Select or clear individual record types to show or hide them.
- Use Select All or Deselect All to quickly update your selection.
- Use the search box to quickly locate a record type.
How Visibility Affects the Application
A record is displayed only when both of the following conditions are met:
- The record belongs to a selected project.
- The record type is selected in the Records tab.
These visibility settings affect both the Map View and the Table View.
In the Table View, only the selected record types appear as tabs at the bottom of the table. Record types that are not selected do not appear, even if they may exist within the selected projects.
On the map, only records that belong to both a selected project and a selected record type are displayed.
User Permissions
Your organization's permissions also affect what you can see. Not all users have access to the same projects or record types, so your Visibility panel may look different from a coworker's panel.
For more information about user roles and permissions, see Understanding User Permissions.
