This article explains how Asset Cards display record information and available actions when users select records on the map.
In This Article
Prerequisites
- Card View must be enabled in Map Components to open Asset Cards from the map.
- You must have the appropriate permissions to view specific actions, workflows, and record information.
Overview
An Asset Card, also referred to as a Map Card, is the information panel that appears when you select a record on the map or click the map pin in the Table View. Asset Cards provide a quick summary of the selected record and access to available actions, workflows, and additional record details without leaving the map.
Card Layout
The information shown on an Asset Card may change based on record type, system configuration, and user permissions. Although the information displayed may vary, most Asset Cards follow the same general layout.
Header
The header identifies the selected record. It typically includes the record type, record title or asset identifier, and the record symbology, which helps identify the record type and, in some systems, the current status. Selecting the record title opens the full record details or attributes page.
Record Summary
The center of the Asset Card displays a summary of key information about the selected record. Depending on the record type and your organization's system configuration, this may include information such as status, description, project, installation details, asset identifiers, or other important attributes.
The information displayed on an Asset Card is intended to provide a quick overview of the selected record without opening the full record details. Additional information can be found on the Attributes Page or within the Table View. The fields displayed on an Asset Card are configurable, so the information shown may vary between record types and customer environments.
Actions
The bottom of the Asset Card displays available actions and workflows for the selected record. These options are dynamic and may change based on the record type, current status, user role, permissions, and system configuration.
The actions displayed are intended to provide quick access to the most common tasks users perform on a record. If many workflows are available for the selected record, additional actions may be available from the More menu.
Interacting with Asset Cards
Asset Cards allow users to review record information and take available actions directly from the map. The sections below explain common ways users interact with cards.
Opening Record Details
Selecting the record title from an Asset Card opens the full record details or Attributes Page. This page provides more complete record information and may include additional sections, linked records, attachments, or available workflows depending on the record type and system configuration.

Using Card Actions
The available actions on an Asset Card help users complete work directly from the selected record. The exact actions shown may differ by record type, status, workflow configuration, and user permissions.
- Primary action: Starts the most common available action for the selected record, when configured.
- Secondary actions: Opens additional workflows or tools available for the selected record.
- More menu: Select the ellipsis icon to view additional available actions for the record.
- Directions: Select the directions icon to open the device or browser map application for navigation to the selected record.
Workflow and Action Availability
Available actions and workflows may vary between cards. TerraGo Platform is highly configurable, so two users viewing the same type of record may not see the same available options.
Workflow and action availability may depend on:
- Record type
- Current record status
- User role
- User permissions
- System configuration
Examples of Asset Cards
Different record types serve different purposes, so their Asset Cards may display different information, layouts, buttons, and workflows. Some cards include only basic information, while others provide multiple workflows and additional actions. Some cards may change as the record moves through different statuses or workflow stages, while others may remain mostly the same.
Enabling or Disabling Card View
Card View controls whether selecting a record on the map opens an Asset Card. This setting is managed from the Map Components section of the Map Settings toolbar.
When Card View is On
Selecting a record on the map opens its Asset Card and automatically highlights the corresponding row in the Table View. This allows users to view key information and access available actions from the map.
When Card View is Off
Selecting a record on the map highlights the corresponding row in the Table View only. No Asset Cards appear on the Map View. This can be useful for users who primarily work from the table.
- Open the Map Settings toolbar.
- Select Map Components.
- Toggle Card View on or off.
