Q: Can I use the mobile application offline?
Short Answer
Yes. TerraGo's Mobile Application can be used while offline. Users can continue viewing data, updating records, and completing workflows. Changes made while offline are stored on the device and will synchronize with the server once a network connection is restored.
More Detail
TerraGo's Mobile Application is designed to support field work in areas without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. While offline, users can continue working with data that has already been synchronized to their device, including creating or updating records and completing available workflows.
Changes made while offline remain on the device until the application can reconnect to a mobile or Wi-Fi network. Once connected, the application can synchronize those changes with the server. If records are waiting to sync, the application may display a banner indicating how many records have not yet been uploaded.
Best Practices
If you know you will be working in an area without network coverage, synchronize your device before leaving the service area. This ensures you have the most up-to-date projects, records, and configuration available while working offline.
- Open the application while connected to a mobile or Wi-Fi network.
- If prompted, download the latest available data.
- If you are not prompted automatically, open Settings, select System, then perform a manual synchronization.
Reconnecting & Syncing
Once your device reconnects to a mobile or Wi-Fi network, synchronize the application so any records created or modified while offline can be uploaded to the server.
