General
GeoPDF Toolbar Web Plugin
Check Automatically enable Web plugin to enable the GeoPDF Toolbar Web Plugin for Firefox and Internet Explorer. This option is disabled by default, and does not support newer web browsers.
Character Encoding
Portable Encoding (UTF-8)
When this option is selected, TerraGo Composer expects that imported .dbf and .csv files will be encoded using the 8-bit Unicode Transformation Format encoding method.
If the files to be imported are not encoded using UTF-8, you will be prompted to select the Use Local Encoding option.
TerraGo Composer always exports .dbf, .csv and .log files using the UTF-8 encoding method.
Local Encoding
When this option is selected, TerraGo Composer expects that imported .dbf and .csv files will be encoded using a host encoding method such as Shift-JIS, Windows Code Page 1252, Traditional Chinese Big5, Simplified Chinese GB18030, Korean EUC-KR or another encoding method. Files that are not encoded using an approved method cannot be imported.
-
Shift-JIS is a character encoding method for the Japanese language.
-
Windows-1252 or CP-1252 is a character encoding method of the Latin alphabet.
-
Traditional Chinese Big5 or Big-5 is a character encoding method used in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau for Traditional Chinese characters.
-
Simplified Chinese GB18030 is a Chinese government standard describing the required language and character support necessary for software in China.
-
Korean EUC-KR or Extended Unix Code (EUC) is a multibyte character encoding method used primarily for Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese languages.
For export, it is possible that not all the characters represented internally in UTF-8 can be represented in the local host encoding. If this is the case, the export will continue with question marks in place of the un-encodable characters and an error message indicating the incompatibility will be reported at the end of the export process.
Coordinate Display
Coordinate Display Format
From the Select list box, choose the coordinate format that should appear in the mini-coordinate display at the bottom right corner of the application. The default is DD MM.MMM.

Coordinate Display Order
In the Coordinate Display Order group box, choose the default axis order for the Copy coordinates to clipboard feature:
-
Lon, Lat (Default): coordinates are copied to the clipboard in Longitude, Latitude order.
-
Lat, Lon: coordinates are copied to the clipboard in Latitude, Longitude order.
GeoMeasure tool preferences
Display Units
From the Display Units list box, choose the type of unit that should display in the Measure Length dialog box (GeoMeasure Length tool). The default is Feet (ft).
Area Units
From the Area Units list box, click the type of unit that should display in the Measure Area dialog box (GeoMeasure Area tool). The default is Display Units Squared.
Measurement formats
Choose one of the following measurement formats:
-
Degrees (Default) – The Measure Length and Measure Area dialog boxes display the azimuth measurement from 0 to 360 degrees. The default is DDD.
-
Mils – The Measure Length and Measure Area dialog boxes display the azimuth measurement from 0 to 6,400 mils . The default is DDDD.D.
Display Magnetic Bearing
To hide the magnetic bearing value in the Measure Length and Measure Area dialog boxes, un-check Display Magnetic Bearing. (For instructions on using the GeoMeasure tool, see Using the GeoMeasure Tool.)
Peer-to-peer export preferences
The peer-to-peer export function allows you to export GeoMarks via email to a pre-selected group of contacts.
TWZ Root Name
When you use the Peer-to-Peer export functionality, TerraGo automatically names your .twz file based on a user-defined, alpha-numeric 'root' name and the date and time of the export. In the TWZ Root Name text box, type the name that you want associated with the .twz files that you export to your peers. The name you specify cannot include spaces.
Choosing contacts
In the Contacts CSV File text box, browse to the location of the .csv file that lists the E-mail addresses for the peers included in your groups. Depending upon your operating system, the sample .csv file could be located at %LOCALAPPDATA%\TerraGo Technologies\TerraGo Suite
, C:\Users\<userID>\AppData\Local\TerraGo Technologies\TerraGo Suite
, C:\Documents and Settings\<userID>\Local Settings\Application Data\TerraGo Technologies\TerraGo Suite
or a similar location. If you share a machine with another user, TerraGo automatically creates a unique location for the .csv file.
Supported E-mail providers include MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface), SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) and HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol).
For advanced information about configuring E-mail addresses for Peer-to-Peer export and the contents and structure of the Contacts.CSV file, see Using Peer-to-Peer Export.
The Add Additional Recipients or Comments is checked by default. This option opens the Peer-to-peer Recipients dialog box through which you can select additional peer groups and add recipients of and comments about your .twz files before exporting them to your peers. If you do not want to add recipients or comments, click the check box to remove the check mark.
Any comments also display in the E-mail sent to your peers.
Notes:
-
If you have more than one defined group, the Peer-to-peer Recipients dialog box appears each time you use the TerraGo Collaboration Tool : Peer-to-Peer Collaboration regardless of the status of the Add Additional Recipients or Comments check box.
-
If you have only one group defined and the Add Additional Recipients or Comments check box does not contain a check mark, the Peer-to-peer Recipients dialog box does not display.
Additional forms
The Prompt to Select Additional Forms check box is not checked by default. When you check this box, this option opens the Form Selector dialog box during the Peer-to-Peer export process. Use this dialog box to choose specific forms to include in the .twz files that you export to your peers.
Annotation Types
In the Annotation Types group box, check the annotation type(s) to always include in the .twz files that you export to your peers.
-
GeoMarks – (default) the TerraGo collaboration component that has a location, attributes and hyperlinks. It is similar to an Adobe annotation, a placemark in Google Earth, or a feature in GIS.
-
All Annotations – The standard Adobe annotations on your map that are to be converted to GeoMarks.
Coordinate system
In the Coordinate System group box, choose one of the following options:
-
WGS 84 – (default) The data will be transformed to WGS 84 from the map frame's native coordinate system.
-
Map Frame – The data will be exported using the map frame's native coordinate system.
Map frame
From the Specify Map Frame list box, click one of the following options:
-
Largest – (default) The export process always retrieves the data from the map frame in the file that occupies the greatest area on the page.
-
Ask On Send – The export process always opens the Map frame Selector dialog box through which you can specify the map frame in which the data resides.
Google Earth
To prevent the export process from including a Google Earth .kml file in your exported .twz files, de-select Include Google Earth KML in TWZ.
Note: If you want to include a .kml file in the exported .twz file so that your peers can view your GeoMarks in Google Earth, the coordinate system on which your map is based must be either WGS 84 or be able to shift to WGS 84. If the coordinate system cannot be shifted to WGS 84, the application prompts you to continue without the .kml file or stop the export.
Including a map
To prevent export process from including a map in your exported .twz files, de-select Include Map in TWZ.
Peer-to-peer import preferences
The peer-to-peer import function allows you to import GeoMarks exported by one of your contacts.
Notifications
Check Suppress Notifications to prevent the Peer-to-Peer import process from displaying the Peer-to-peer Notification on your monitor when a .twz file has been E-mailed to you by your peers.
If you choose to suppress notifications, you can still determine if there is a .twz file available for Peer-to-Peer import by clicking the notification icon located to the left of the mini-coordinate displays.
You can resume import notifications by clearing the Suppress Notifications check box in this pane or by clearing a check box of the same name in the Inbox window and Features dialog box. You can access this window by double-clicking the notification icon.
