Enabling GeoTool

From the TerraGo GeoPDF Toolbar, click GeoTool . The GeoTool dialog box, which provides instructions for using the tool, appears each time you click the GeoTool tool.

Click OK.

Once you have enabled GeoTool, the cursor will change. Single-click to freeze and unfreeze the mini-coordinate displays. Double-click to center the location on the screen and freeze the displays. Right-click to display the shortcut menu.

Note: If you do not want to see the GeoTool dialog box again, check the Do not show this again check box before you click OK. You can reset the option to show this dialog box in the TerraGo Preferences dialog box. From Edit on the main menu, click Preferences, then TerraGo. Click Restore Defaults, then click OK.
Freezing and unfreezing displays

Place your cursor over the map at the point whose coordinates you want to mark and left-click to freeze the mini-coordinate displays. An icon will appear at the location clicked and the mini coordinate display will no longer track the coordinates as you move your mouse. The cursor will change to indicate that the point is marked.

Left-click again to unfreeze the mini-coordinate displays.
Turning the mini-coordinate displays on and off

Right-click anywhere on your GeoPDF file or geospatially-aware PDF file, then click Show/Hide Coordinates.

The mini-coordinate displays appear/disappear from the bottom right corner of the map according to the selected option.
Showing or hiding the GeoLocator

Right-click anywhere on your GeoPDF file or geospatially-aware PDF file, then click Right-click anywhere on your GeoPDF file or geospatially-aware PDF file, then click Show/Hide GeoLocator.
Displaying a coordinate on Google Maps

Right-click anywhere on your GeoPDF file or geospatially-aware PDF file, then click Google™ Map it!.

Your internet browser will launch and display the coordinate position of your mouse or the location previously marked.

If you marked a point on your map by left-clicking, that point is mapped by default.

At least one of your mini-coordinate displays must display in latitude/longitude for Google Map to display the coordinate position. If no coordinate displays, an information message appears.
Copying a Google Map link to the clipboard

Right-click anywhere on your GeoPDF file or geospatially-aware PDF file, then click Copy Google Map link to clipboard.

The Google Map link to the coordinate position of your mouse or the location previously marked will be copied to your clipboard.

At least one of your mini-coordinate displays must display in latitude/longitude for Google Map to display the coordinate position. If no coordinate displays, an information message appears.
Copying coordinates to the clipboard

Right-click anywhere on your GeoPDF file or geospatially-aware PDF file, then click Copy coordinates to clipboard

The coordinates for the position of your mouse or the location previously marked will be copied to your clipboard.

The default coordinate order is LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, but you can reverse the coordinate display order in the Coordinate system preferences.
Measuring Length
When you select the Measure Length tool, the dialog box displays the total length, the current segment length, azimuth and magnetic bearing, if configured, of what you want to measure. It also displays the previous segment length, azimuth and magnetic bearing as well as the previous total length, thereby allowing you to compare the measurements.
To measure length on your map:

Right-click anywhere on your GeoPDF file or geospatially-aware PDF file, then click Measure Length.

Click your map to create the starting point. A single-click inserts a vertex. A right-click removes the last segment.

Continue clicking your map to create the length to measure.

Double-click your map to finish the line measurement.
When you complete your first length measurement, the total displays in the Totals group box at the top of the dialog box. After you complete your second length measurement, the first measurement total displays in the new Previous Totals group box at the bottom of the dialog box and the second measurement total displays at the top of the dialog box. If you start a third measurement, the second measurement total replaces the first measurement total at the bottom of the dialog box. The previous totals are cleared when the measurement is removed.

To convert your measured length to a GeoPolyline, click Convert to GeoMark.

As with other GeoMarks, you can add attachments through the GeoMark Editor and then export your GeoMark for use on GeoPDF Publisher for ArcGIS, TerraGo Composer and the TerraGo GeoPDF Toolbar.

The units that display in the Measure Length dialog box as well as the magnetic bearing are set in the GeoMeasure Tool Options pane in the TerraGo Preferences dialog box. To access this dialog box, from Edit on the main menu, click Preferences, then TerraGo. Modify the fields as needed and then click OK.
Measuring Area
When you select the Measure Area tool, the dialog box displays the total length, the current segment length, azimuth and magnetic bearing, if configured, of what you want to measure. It also displays the previous segment length, azimuth and magnetic bearing as well as the previous total length, thereby allowing you to compare the measurements.
To measure area on your map:

Right-click anywhere on your GeoPDF file or geospatially-aware PDF file, then click Measure Area.

Click your map to create the starting point. A single-click inserts a vertex. A right-click removes the last segment.

Continue clicking your map to create the area to measure.

Double-click your map to automatically complete the polygon.

If you are within the specified tolerance (10 pixels) of completing the polygon, the cursor will change. A single-click automatically completes the polygon.
